Dynamic Sculptures

Lyle London is an artist and sculptor. Over the last few years, he has developed a series of works based on the spiral topologies observed in natural phenomena as diverse as plant growth, DNA/RNA helixes, marine life, and the evolution of spiral galaxies.

This investigation of the complex geometries found in nature has inspired him to create interior suspended sculptures crafted from color-changing dichroic glass as well as outdoor sculptures showcasing the dynamic spiral topography.

This steel sculpture is a deconstruction of a spiraling dust devil or maybe a whirling dervish. Using 100 computer cut 1/4″ steel plates the piece creates the complex geometry of a whirlwind.

DANCER VI (above) is another sculpture by him, made of bronze and SPIRE (below) made of stainless steel designed based on growth patterns in nature including plants and weather systems.
