Gyroid Minimal Surface

In this tutorial, we will model the Gyroid Minimal surface in Grasshopper. First, we will study the equation of the Isosurface which will produce the Gyroid and then we will use the Millipede and Weaverbird Plugin to finish the final mesh.

    Hi
H have problem. when i click (Bake) in Iso surface, don’t exist thickness of gyroid
    i uploaded file
    Thank you

    Hello,

first of all, great job. the GH File is amazing.

But i found out that when i thicken the gyroid “too much”, one channel ist getting smaller, and the other one bigger.

I tried to fix it by changing the formula [cos(x)*sin(y)+cos…] , there came some geometrys out, but very wierd.

then i tried to minimize the Iso-Value, as near as i could (0.0000001) but there is still a difference between the 2 channels.

do you have an idea how i cuold solve this ?

    Hello,
I downloaded the file to follow while watching your tutorial, but when I try to install it it gives me a 404 Millipede plugin missing. And I am not able to. find it on Food4Rhino either.

Any ways you could help me out with finding it?
    Thanks.

    Great video tho.

    Hello,
Firstly, thank you so much for video. How Can I export as stl ?

    Sincerely,

    • rezae

      Hi Mehmet,

At first you have to bake the geometry(put it in Rhino), In order to bake a geometry you can right click on the component which contains the geometry and click on bake.
for creating a stl format you can easily go to File->Export->find the .stl format.

      Many thanks,

    Hi,

Thank you so much, I did with your example file, but I have a big problem. I want to do an analysis in Ansys however I can’t. In addition, can I create bottom and top layer, if I can, how can do it? Please can you share your e-mail? Really, I need help.

    Sincerely,

    • rezae

      Hi Mehmet

I think the Rhino analysis only works with surfaces (I’m not sure)
but you can easily use “Mesh Curvature” from Ngon Plugin. You can download it from here :Ngon

      Many thanks,
