Parametrichouse: In collaboration with Microsoft, Momentum the Kinetic Sculpture is now on permanent display at the Microsoft Theater. It made of locally sourced ash wood. Inspired by the Microsoft logo, the robotic sculpture is made up of 80 Ultramotion motors and 160 wooden tiles. The motors create a fluid movement of each tile and transform the ambient light in the Microsoft Theater. As if it was alive, a Microsoft Kinect sensor allows the sculpture to morph and react to your every move. Behind the wooden tiles also reveal colorful light animations via programmable LEDs. The video shows behind the scenes process of this fully integrated system involving motors, sensors, and light.
