Michaela Crie Stone lives and works in Rockport, Maine, where she creates pieces that push the parameters of function by blurring the lines between art, craft, and design.
The Fractals Workshop is based on generative growth of natural systems, mathematics and algorithm-based aggregation. This workshop is an adaptation of the teaching methods practiced at the Design Research Lab at the AA School of Architecture. Fractals is a hands-on workshop that combines analog and digital methods of generative design and formfinding.
The method is inspired from the organic growth of natural systems, parametric architecture, structural systems, mathematics and geometry, and algorithms. It encourages teamwork, computation, design thinking, 3D thinking and logic. The workshop culminates in a public exhibition of the student work.
Takbir Fatima is an architect, and Director of the award-winning experimental design and architecture studio, DesignAware.
She has an MArch in Architecture + Urbanism from the Design Research Lab at the Architectural Association, London and was awarded the Telangana Young Architect Award by the Indian Institute of Architects in 2016, and was recognized as Emerging Architect of the Year by NDTV Design Architecture Awards 2016, as well as iGen 2019.
She has also had the opportunity to speak about my design practice and its processes at TEDx in BITS Hyderabad in 2017.
