4D Printing In Action

4D Printing In Action

This is a 4D printing video by Pranavee M of 4D printing in action. 5 videos put together showing tests from MIT Self assembly laboratory demonstrating the functionality of shape transformation. Flat-printed structures that, once placed in hot water, slowly folds themselves into another structure.

3D Printed Dynamic Tensegrity

3DPrinted Dynamic Tensegrity

A team of researchers from the Georgia Institute of Technology has developed a way to use 3-D printers to create objects capable of expanding dramatically that could someday be used in applications ranging from space missions to biomedical devices.

3D Printing Auxetic Materials

3D Printing Auxetic Materials

This video from Two Minute Papers is about auxetic materials. Auxetic materials are materials that when stretched, thicken perpendicular to the direction we’re stretching them. In other words, instead of thinning, they get fatter when stretched.

Spider Bracket Structure

Spider Bracket Structure

Altair, Materialise and Renishaw collaborated to successfully create a lattice structured spider bracket; a functional structure which is lightweight, robust and reminds biological lifeforms. The design for the spider bracket was generated using Altair OptiStruct, prepared for printing with Materialise software Magics, 3-matic and the Build Processor, to be 3D printed on Renishaw’s AM250 metal additive manufacturing system.

3D Printed Optimized Bridge

3D Printed Optimized Bridge

This bridge was produced using 3D concrete printing technology by Ghent University in collaboration with Vertico. The design and production of a topology-optimized prestressed concrete bridge is presented. Topology optimization (TO) is a mathematical method that optimizes material layout within a given design space

Reebok’s 3D Technology

Reebok is using 3D technology to break the mold. Bloomberg’s Anne Mostue visited the Boston-based company’s headquarters to see how it’s using proprietary liquid material, software and robotics to draw shoes in three-dimensional layers

Voxel Chair

A continuous line of plastic makes up this intricate robot-built chair, designed using a new 3D-printing software by a team from the Bartlett School of Architecture in London. The Bartlett’s Design Computation Lab (DCL), a part of University College London, created the software to open up new possibilities for 3D printing.

3D Printing Ideas #3 - Mechanisms

3D Printing Ideas #3

These models are incredible examples of what 3D Printing is capable of! In this video, you can take a look at Nautilus Gears, Gear Bearing, Reuleaux Triangle Bearing, Geneva Mechanism, Iris Box, Cube Gear.

3D Printing Ideas #2 - Algorithmic Modeling Cakes

3D Printing Ideas #2

In this 3D Printing Idea we are taking a look at Algorithmic Modeling Cakes by Dinara Kasko. Ukrainian pastry artist Dinara Kasko creates incredible-looking edible cakes that are inspired by geometry, architecture, sculpture, and technology. For a 2017 ‘ruby chocolate’ event in Shanghai, she made an 81 piece ruby chocolate cake using the Grasshopper graphical [...]

3D Printing Ideas #1

In this 3D Printing Idea we are taking a look at the Maker's Muse project. They used Structure Synth to 3D Print incredibly detailed code driven patterns on Prusa i3 Mk2 3D Printer - It's tonnes of fun! More Info
